Having the right protection against weapon threats can make a massive difference- a lack of proper protection can result in serious injury, or even death.

It is important to be sure that you are wearing the body armor that is appropriate for the situation that you are entering. In order to be sure you have the right body armor, we recommend that time is taken to learn about the different types of body armor available.

Some armor protects against only one type of threat. Other vests can protect against bullet, edged blade, and spike threats.

Not all body armor offers the same protection, and it is important to be sure that you have the level and type of protection that you need.

Kevlar Soft Armor

Kevlar provides exceptional protection to ballistic threats. Worn regularly by a diverse range of individuals, vests of this material can stop of a variety of bullets- from shotgun pellets, through to .44 magnum rounds.

Soft armor can protect up to NIJ level IIIa, and panels of this specification have a greater number of kevlar fibres in comparison to panels that protect against level II. Although this makes the vest slightly thicker and heavier, this protection level remains viable for those who wish to wear a vest discreetly and covertly.

Laminated Kevlar Stab Proof Vests

If you come into close contact with dangerous individuals, you may want to choose a stab and spike resistant vest.

This type of body armor is commonly worn by prison guards, and protects against improvised weapons, such as shanks or razor blades. They are also commonly worn by security guards who work the entrances to clubs, bars, or concerts. The edged blade and spike resistant vests that we offer will protect from puncture wounds that are commonly made through the use of sharp objects.

Many people make the mistake of thinking that only knives are used in stabbing attacks. Tools, broken bottles, and even ice picks can be used as weapons.

It is important to be sure that you have on an edged blade and/or spike resistant vest if you are going to be facing dangerous close contact situations.

Rifle Round Protection

Rifle resistant body armor is typically worn by individuals who will be facing situations of serious danger. This armor is most recommended If you work in a job where you could come into contact with rifle rounds, or armor piercing ammunition. 

Protection to the above bullets can be provided by level III or IV SAPI ballistic plates. Made of ceramic or polyethylene, these plates fit into the pouches of Cordura with SAPI plate pouch vests, and protect critical regions of the torso.

Although this type of armor is likely to be slightly more awkward, the added protection can give even greater peace of mind. Our Codura with SAPI plate pocket can accomodate these plates, and allows them to be of minimal consequence to maneuverability.

Regardless of vest and protection levels, vests must be worn properly if they are to be effective.
